This doesn't cut it. not everyone wants to do 16 simultanious
tracks. some
want to do podcasts, some want to set instraments and save them.
there are
many different uses for gb so before you rain, take a step back,
scale down
and punch it again please?

ok well here is a run down of things before you guys get all excited
here
now I am a professional musician with years of experience between
macs
and PCs with different recording packages.
Garage band is accessible to a limit and I emphasize the word limit.
it will give you basic recording access. some control over accessing
parameters for each midi track or software instrument track. audio
editing and midi editing is in fact a rather serious problem as
navigating and controlling with voiceover is incredibly awkward and
not as informative as needed here
running multiple recorded tracks. well lets just say...., FORGET IT.
after extensive testing recently with my production environment. its
a waste of time. no track after track 1 is spoken as it cannot
navigate further or see the interface.. I set up a full 16 channel
midi 8 channel audio project for a rundown test and I couldn't
edit a
track nor get info on each channel.
the only way around this for recording tracks is to get a midi
control
surface with faders, controller pots and more.
navigating the sound pallette for each software track can be done
but
it is sluggish at times and is a little irritating but none the less
its navigateable
master track issue. not exactly the best function going and not
really editable. more effects support, true mastering tools etc would
be a good idea.
Sorry to rain on people's days here but to be honest after having
taken some time and some recent tests. forget garage band. I am doing
some work at present which I will be revealing soon. cant say
anything
just yet but if you're from mac visionaries and know me then you'll
know my knowledge of the audio recording software market.
