not sure what you mean by a virtual drive but if it is what I think, the price is too high for what you get with an ssd. it also drains the battery much more so for some reason than does a regular drive. Your best bet for speed is the 13 inch macbook pro if you like small and fast.

Hi David, Keith, and Marcy,

Thanks to all of you for this helpful info. I have downloaded the manual,
and been to the Icanworkthis.com site. It's great to have all these
wonderful resources. I'm sure that at some point I'll be one of those
annoying ex-Windows users who goes on a rant, but hopefully with all these
tools, I can keep that down to a minimum. *smile*

Very cool about the $10 upgrade. It's really nice to know that if I buy my
Mack within the next couple of weeks, I won't be looking at shelling out
another $100 in 2 months.

Yeah, Marcy, the MacBook is the one for me! Haven't quite figured out the configuration yet, but I like speed, so am thinking about getting it with
the virtual drive.
Cheers,
Donna

by apple would be elegible for snow leopard upgrade for $10.00.

as for the getting started guide, you will find it here:

welcome back and enjoy your mac.

Hi all,

I was on this list about a year ago, but have finally decided to take
the plunge and get a Mac. I'm looking at the Iphone 3gs, so this
seemed like a good time to switch my computer over as well. I have a
couple of questions.

First, I followed the instructions in the message below, but the site
seems to have changed. Where do I need to go to download the newest
Getting Started manual?

Second, if I purchase my Mac this summer, will I be eligible for the
Snow-Leopard upgrade due out in September?

Thanks in advance for all your help. It's good to be back on the
list, and I'm looking forward to new adventures with a Mac!
Cheers,
Donna

You need to go to

http://www.apple.com/accessibility
Click on seeing.

Then go down to the voice over getting started manual. They have it
either in pdf format, or in mp3 format. Not trying to steer myself
away from helping you. It's just if you do not know the fundimentals
like what the vo keys are even, it's gonna be very difficult trying to
explains things. To interact with an item, asswuming it is a type
item that you can interact with like a table, a list, an outline, etc.
you need to do vo+shift+down arrow to interact, then vo shift up arrow
to stop interacting. remember by vo, also known as vo keys, you hold
down control and option.

Chris.

Thanks, Chris. No I wasn't, I didn't know any of this. So, then to
interact with an item, do I press enter, or use the mousepad?
TIA,
Donna

Donna,

For one, were you using the voice over keys with the arrow keys? You
need to hit control+option while moving around with the arrow keys.

Then do vo+space, or in other words control+option+space to select an
item.

Chris.

Subject: [macvoiceover] arrow keys on Mac?

Hello all,

This is Donna Goodin, I was on the list a few weeks back.

I had a chance to go into an Apple store on Friday, and played around
a bit with a Mac. One thing I noticed was that the arrow keys don't
seem to do anything, i.e. you can't use them to navigate around the
screen. Is this normal? If yes, how do you navigate the screen?
Using Tab kind of worked, but it didn't seem to get you everywhere on
the screen. I did play around a bit with trying to use the mouse pad,
it was OK, but not very precise. If the arrow keys are supposed to
work, what should I have done to enable them?
TIA,
Donna
