Hey, Nicole. Try turning off and restarting VoiceOver, and see if you’re up to
date on Big Sur updates. I have never had this problem with wired headsets.
Also, can you toggle speech on and off with either a three-fingered tripple-tap
on a track pad, or (not sure if this works in Mac OS) VO+S on the keyboard?
That might bring back speech, when it goes sideways...

Some stuff is better, some worse; currently, I’m having a problem with
“workspaces,” which my blogging workplace uses to compile research notes and
web sources into blog posts, for example. Trello really does not work well,
either, but seems to work better on IOD. Same with Slack. *shrug* I also
still can’t get Mail sounds or any other system sounds, except the
volume-change clicks, to happen. It’s a crap shoot, all right.
