Yeah, any time you put a CD in your drive, audio, data, DVD, or what ever it may be, it's going to mount to the desktop. That's one of the easiest ways then to get to the disc and browse the content of it.

Granted, you can tell the Finder not to mount stuff like that to the desktop, but I'd honestly not advise it. Had you simply wanted to play the disc and not actually import it, you would a told it no, not to import, then in ITunes, under your sources list, make sure the disc was selected, which it already should a been at that point, then go over to the track list table, select the first track on the disc, then hit return to start playing it from that point.

We need to clear up a few things. I don't want you being further confused. When us list members as myself say something mounts or un! mounts from the desktop, tell us in your own words what you think we mean by that? That's not questioning your intelligence, please please know that, it's just I wanna see your logic, so that if you don't follow, I can better learn your style of learning, so that in the future I'll know better how you think, and how best to help you out.

Chris.

Nope that's not what I did at all.

I just put the CD into the Mac, hoping it would play it, it asked me if I wanted to import it into I tunes, I went to the yes box, clicked it, and there you go.

I don't see it anymore on the desktop, so I guess when I took it out of the Mac, it disappeared from the desktop.

thanks for all your help.

No, if it's not in the mac then you do literally have a copy of it on the desktop as you initially stated. Wow! That's bizarre! Again, I need to know more what you did and how you went about importing the disc, as I have a very strong suspicion you just copied the disc with command+C then pasted it where ever.

That definitely won't work for importing discs, if that's what you did.

I do that even though the CD is ejected and no longer in the Mac?

when you are sitting on it on the desktop, press command-e to eject it.

It's probably a simple answer, but I want to make sure I don't make a mistake.

Thanks.
