Agreed. I learned how to use my mac successfully in about a week. Ok, not like
now, Now I'm an intermediate user who uses ssh and all of that, but I was
taking notes in class. My drill Sargent said, play with our mac at school. Use
it or you will never get the hang of using it at all. he was right.

Honestly, I would start voice over and run the voice over training. When you
first start voice over it gives you the option of running the training. You
might not want the store to activate it for you since you can do it yourself
for the first time. That’s one of the best things about voiceover. Unlike
bolt on windows screen readers or 3rd party applications voice over is built
in to the operating system so it means you have full access to your Mac
instead of only after you’ve booted like in the case of windows. All you
have to do is hit command F5. You can walk up to any mac and hit command F5
and have access to the machine.
That being said the best way to learn to use your new Mac is use your
pC only to google or read documentation for the first time. Go to the
various podcasts and listen to how it’s done and attempt it yourself. Once
you get the basics cut the cord and stop using the PC or other device.
Honestly 90% of succeeding with a new environment like this is fully
committing. If you keep falling back on the PC you’ll never quite switch.
Try to use the PC only as a tool to look something up when you don’t know how
to do it on your Mac. Over time and with patients you’ll become a power user.
I would also say post a lot of questions here and other places and
bottom line enjoy the process as much as possible. It can be frustrating at
first but you’ll get it and in my opinion not look back. I’ve been using the
mac since 2010 or so and am glad I made the transition.
