[lit-ideas] news?

Why is 'news' now nothing more than gossip, lies and titillation? Even
'real' news groups are trowelling out gossip faster than you can say "guess
what I heard".

Why should we care that:

1) American Idol is fixed.
2) Some woman ran away from her own wedding
3) A lady PUT a finger in her chili and blamed it on Wendy's
4) Nancy Grace is a crooked bitch
5) "The Apprentice" ratings are going through the roof

When:

1) The price of gas is fixed
2) Some insurance company ran away with my money
3) regular businesses consistently give the finger to their customers
4) the government is a crooked bitch
5) grocery prices are going through the roof

Why are the priorities so totally upside down?

I blame Michael Moore for popularizing complaining. No business even cares
if I complain anymore. They write me or call me to tell me in a nice tone
of voice, "Yes, we understand how you feel, but we are going to continue to
anally rape you with the government's consent. Thank you, have a nice day."
No expose will ever be taken seriously. People love the sizzle but won't
buy the steak.

having a nice day,

paulo
