The idea, yes, but first date of practice of suicide bombing is uncertain.

Many at the time and after believed, at least according to Matthew Josephson's "The Robber Barons," that the Haymarket Bombing was the work of outside agents hired by the local gentry, such as Marshall Field, to discredit the strike.

None of the Haymarket Eight admitted to the bombing.
