And as for nice thoughts...the cricket season has started, I've just mown the lawn for the first time this year, I've received positive reviews for my work...

Yesterday evening my wife and I watched the new "Sense and Sensibility," which DVD my father bought for our daughters, they being terrific fans of Keira Knightley. What do I remember of the film? Her very long neck. The plot romps along. I see what people mean by anachronistic. The lawns particularly struck me as impossibly short for the eighteenth century's scythed cutting or sheep chomping, but I'm sure most objections were to the "Wuthering Heights"-like poses that people struck and the kissy-kissy finish. But with a glass of wine and a good dinner within, I enjoyed the thing for what it was: one among thousands of good alternatives to cricket.
