It's like watching a little kid with a loaded gun waving around -- somebody's going to get hurt. T Hi, Yes, and like his Great Leader, he is also the son of a Big Man. (his dad was governor some time ago and is now a fairly influential US Representative from in the Springfield area. However, none of his campaign ads showed that--he would be standing in a grassy field (MO is often won by the rural vote) and kept saying he was the son of a schoolteacher. I never could figure out why his Democratic opponent never brought that up...While it was fairly shocking that he won [NONE of the Missouri newspapers backed him and the print media did do what it could to point out his appalling plans for the future], it was clear that the $$ he spent on radio/tv advertising did the trick [he got major funding not from people in MO who wanted him to win, but from lots who wanted to curry favor with his dear old dad...KC Star did a feature--but readership of print media is just not there...] What's kind of funny is that a lot of librarian types that I know voted for him--he was the former Secretary of State and actually did fight for libraries (in MO the State Library and any state funding for libraries comes via the Sec of State) He also has announced a 20% decrease in the budget for what is called MOREnet--which provides a lot of the computerized services for MO libraries [databases, catalogs, etc.] and that is a big surprise. However, he did announce $600,000 for the State Humanities Council and the MO Arts Council. (which had kind of been put on hold because of the state budget crunches the past four years...) Given how much alike he is to his counterpart in the White House, I can visualize exactly what you are saying, Julie...
