Hmmm. Well, I've had 18 years of formal schooling, but I can remember the names of only two teachers from the 1st to the 9th grades. Sister Lucy in the 3rd grade, I probably remember her because she humiliated me in front of the class. Then there was Mrs. Davies in the 7th grade -- I probably remember her because she was the first lay teacher I had. I remember the names of all my high school teachers, but I only liked and respected one among them. Of my college teachers, I can only remember the names of 4. None of them really inspired me. Hope this doesn't screw up your correlations.

I remember the name of every teacher and professor I've ever had since grade 1.
I can't remember the name of my kindergarten teacher, though, since I spoke
very little English at that time.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if there were a strong positive correlation
between number of years spent in formal schooling and ability to recall one's
teachers' and professors' names. Much anectodal evidence supports my
hypothesis. (Eg: A classmate of mine in grade 5 quit school in grade 6 to join
the Hell's Angels. Last time I saw him (1984), he could recall the name of only
one teacher he had had in school.)

Such inductive evidence may of course be corroborative of a universal natural or
social law/generalization. If there are universal moral laws, why not also
universal natural laws?

remember the first five words in French for one two three. I adored my Fr.

teacher -- she had studied at the Sorbonne and was wonderful. Thanks for
the
flash back. I even remember her name -- Mrs. Krieg. The first day of class

her first sentence was "This is the last time English will be used in this
room." How many of you remember any of your public school teachers' nams?
