Eric, this is such old news. Seymour Hersh from the New Yorker:

http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/articles/051205fa_fact

I guess that's what you know about what's been going on in Iraq. Air power
was the way they were going to fight the war right from the beginning. Why
do you think there were so few troops? The new and improved military
courtesy of Rumsfeld. Yes, millions of pounds (500,000 tons per Hersh in
December 2005), and presumably if they were well targeted, we'd be in good
shape, correct? Afghanistan is a different story. A lot of firepower for
a short time and mostly on the cheap. They used next to no troops, mostly
contracted with warlords, stayed a few weeks and the neocons moved on to
Iraq.

Any facts brought to your attention are dismissed as alarmist or some other
thing. Why do you think Iraq is a failed state after 3-1/2 years of
bombardment? It seems that no matter what anybody says, including people
like Suskind and Ricks and Woodward, no matter how many facts you're
presented with, you stick to your fixed notion of American supremacy and
victory. If that's what you need to hear, then that's what you need to
hear. No problem. The administration has been fantasizing in just the
same way for 3-1/2 years, so what the heck, let's high five here and crack
open the bubbly too. Here's to victory, Eric!
