I have nothing to do with stars other than astronomy. We do know how to
prevent abuse, but it's difficult. Parent education is one way. Removing
children from parents, but that causes other problems such as separation
anxiety, abandonment issues, etc.

Andy "If it happened to adults there would be hell to pay."
It does happen every day. A large number of women are beaten regularly, are
murdered if they leaves sometimes, etc. Most murders carry a 20 year life
sentence, perpetrators are frequently out in 7 years.

I worry more about the number of children murdered by gun violence in the US
every day. In 2005, 3,006 children and teens. Source is Centers for Disease
Control, quoted in Children's Defense Fund. This does not count young people
in college, barely out of childhood.

I haven't gotten any posts from lit ideas, mine or anyone else's today,
although mine is on the website. I'll try again with this one.

Not all children grow up to be monsters if they are tortured, that's
true, probably most don't, at least not on a grand scale, but it's because we
don't know how the stars will line up that we need to prevent all abuse. And
also just because we need to prevent it. If that happened to adults, there
would be hell to pay. Because it happened to children, it went unnoticed.
Some probably do become compassionate, but it's a heck of a prerequisite for
compassion.
