<Homer Simpson mode on/> Mmmmmmmmmmm! Case steam engine!!!!! <Homer Simpson
mode off/>

I am a big Case fan, and had the pleasure last August to photograph one at a
museum in Irricana, AB, about an hour north of Calgary. They have two big
events every summer, and bring out all the old working engines from their
collection, and private collections in the area.

The Case (a 65 HP) was driving a treshing machine, and compared to the gas
engine tractor driving it earlier, it was so quiet in relative terms, all you
could hear was the swish of the belt, and the treshing machine itself.
I took a number of slide shots of it, using David Y's old R6, and have a couple
of black & white shots of it on my wall at work. (They were shot with a little
Olympus P&S, sorry! But at least I developed the shots myself!)

For you Case enthusiasts, Ertl put out a highly detailed model with lots of
moving parts about 2-3 years back, I think they sold for about $65 US, a 1/16
scale. One proudly adorns my bookcase top at work, and along with a reprint of
the operating manual off eBay, makes quite a nice display.
