Hey Andy some very wise words in your e-mail. It seems to me that Leica can and will only be interested in new sales. What probably is the truth that Leica either doesnt know or doesn't care about how their products are used after sale. A lot of the chat on this site deals with purchasing second hand gear, which doesnt net Leica a cent in revenue. Do you know if anyone tells Leica what they should be doing, in respect of using Leica R glass. I suspect not. Leica have put themselves in such an expensive niche market that is difficult to see that they can ultimately survive. This is so particularly, with the current economic malaise. I have an R5 with 3 lens and it will take a strong argument for me to park the body and move to digital. I have to admit that digital is very convenient though. New Leica equipment is extremely expensive in Australia, with the number of dealers shrinking quickly , hence little competition, for a miniscule market. Keep up the good work, interesting and quality material passes through the site. regards Peter Rabaa Brisbane - Australia --- On Thu, 10/9/09, Andy Wagner <yxandy2001@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: From: Andy Wagner <yxandy2001@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Subject: [LRflex] Re: R lens users To: leicareflex@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Received: Thursday, 10 September, 2009, 10:28 AM Philippe Let's get our facts right David Young brought us together on this list not Leica:-) and for that I thank him. Lets face it we all love our R glass but it is the skill of the user that really defines great pictures. I feel privilaged to be in the company of this list. Now as for Leica, something is drastically wrong there. They have a very dedicated following in the R-users that they have totally ignored --first with the DMR fiassco, then with the vapor 10 and now with no word on the promise of something compatible with our glass. Do you really wonder why they are in trouble and scrambling? How many followers have they lost due to their missteps. Instead of the x1 p&s couldn't they have taken the startup cash and converted the R-9 to digital. They've got the ideal body to start with and the removal of some unneeded hardware on the inside they could have had a real winner. It seems to me that everyone on this list doesn't give a rat's behind if the camare has a hundred different bells, button, or whistles.. Just give us an SLR where we can set the shutter speed, f-stop and ISO, focus confirmation, and in camera stabilization we're good to go. If they would have introduced that, I guarentee that 99% of the people just on this list would have tripped over each other to get their hands on one. What Leica doesn't realize is that right now they have a very dedicated following of R-users whose patience with broken promises is growing very, very thin and they are sending profits to other camera manufactures because they refuse to recognize the R-users out here. ------ >-- Regards YXAndy --- On Wed, 9/9/09, Philippe Amard <philippe.amard@xxxxxx> wrote: From: Philippe Amard <philippe.amard@xxxxxx> Subject: [LRflex] Re: R lens users To: leicareflex@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc: "Leica Users Group" <lug@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 2:06 PM Ok 999 is a sad day for many - yet, at least Leica, in spite of its multiple failures, have managed to get us together online and share pictures, and friendly and gay banter - this is one major achievement to my eyes, bigger than any other, to my eyes, only?
