Thanks Bob, my initial impressions are quite good. I've tried several lenses
in this range, none of which were quite right for a number of reasons. One of
the biggest problems I've had at the longer end is hand-held steadiness. Aside
from the solid construction and very Leica-like image quality one advantage of
this lens is the ability to use a slightly-modified STA-1 tripod collar. With
this I can use my shoulder stock/monopod rig which has been exceptionally handy
with the 280, 400 and 560mm lenses. I think I'm going to get a lot of use out
of this lens.
