I also have used a Minolta 52mm & 55mm "Medical" close-up filter, which is
also a multi-element achromat just like the 5T & 6T Nikons. I've used the 55mm
Minolta lens on my trusty old 75~200, f/4.5 Vario, and it works like a charm.
There is plenty of "working room" between the lens and the subject.
I've used the same 6T for over 15 years and would never give it up.

If you really want to get wild and do extreme close-up macro shots on either
flowere, or crystals or geodes, mount a 28mm elmarit reversed onto the front
of either a 135, f/2.8, or even better, a 180, f/4 using a male-to-male 55mm
ring on the 135/180 and a series 6, or 48mm to 55mm step-up ring on the 28.

Keep the prime, (135/180) lens wide open, and after focussing, stop the 28mm
down to gain some "depth of field" (maybe 1~2mm if your lucky). I've used this
with an R5~R7 body and used a Metz 32 series flash on a Nikon SC17 cord for
off-camera TTL flash.

The 28/135 combo gives a 4.82:1 magnification ratio, while the 28/180 combo
gives a 6.428:1 magnification ratio.

Just a thought
