The cables are fine; I reversed them, and also used MIDI B instead of MIDI A.
The channel lights on Cubase indicate that MIDI data is coming in and going
out. The reason I wrote to this group is because initially I thought it might
be an issue with the Korg X5. However, since the lights are off for MIDI out,
the problem must be with the interface that I just bought off someone on
ebay:-(
