It's been two weeks for me since I sent in my membership and nothing in the
mail yet. Perhaps something will come this week. I don't believe RAC is the
only entity out there arguing for our bands. You as an Amateur have every
right to petition your MP/Government rep. Don't need RAC to do that. Did RAC
Fight when 220Mhz was removed? I dunno, just asking? If so, seems it was lost
anyway. Perhaps not enough people using it.

When Mr. Leech came to town, he made it clear that TCA will never be online and
no support for blind Amateurs. Now that he is no longer the Overlord, I hope
RAC re-considers and supports an online TCA. Of course password entry. It's
the Computer age and print is quickly dying.

Phil,
I can't disagree with some of the things you listed but there is no
one else out there to take the interest in arguing for our bands.

Well in the background. I applied for RAC membership and paid on-line three
weeks ago, and haven't even received an acknowledgement yet.

No big deal. And I know they rely a lot on volunteers. But I think they should
do a big "rethink" about the effect that the cost and administration of
membership has on the small percentage of Canadian hams becoming and remaining
members. Other related issues: poor proportion of membership costs for
membership/magazine, lack of CD-ROM magazine (for blind members, and others),
high cost of membership, high cost for additional family members. I think they
should eliminate the magazine, put more news on-line, lower the cost of
membership and attract a much higher percentage of Canadian hams as members.
