Even stranger, I just happened to check my Amazon account and found a show stopper. Someone had just used my details to purchase two laptops, with a total price of £2000. Even stranger was that they were to be delivered to my address. Fortunately I'd found out before the order was despatched and managed to cancel it.

Why on earth would anyone do that and how did they get my card details, password etc, to be able to do it.

Same thing here.

Amazon confirmed the cards had been redeemed and know the account they were redeemed to – but they can’t tell me who this was. I asked them if they would provide that information to the police but they seemed totally uninterested.

Happy New Year everyone.

Had a similar scenario recently. The wife's card was refused at the local garden centre. Paid with mine, but she immediately received a call from the bank stating unusual use and they'd stopped the card. Had she spent £1055 online at Debenhams? No. OK, we were to let them know when the item appeared on her account and they would investigate!

We wanted to protect her £1055, but they confirmed this was the usual way.

Once home, I rang Debenhams to check my order, and sure enough it was a sofa, delivery in 2 weeks!!

I explained the situation, but although they had a delivery address, not ours, they couldn't provide the information so that I could contact the police, or Barclays fraud dept. Reason: Data protection.......

I remember a time when we used things and loved people. It all seems backwards lately.

I’ve just finished a battle with Amazon today so I’m definitely in
GOM mode. I ordered two gift vouchers for Christmas presents and
when they arrived someone had scratched the foil off the redeem
code. A quick check showed that the cards had already been
redeemed before delivery. Seems a simple matter to explain to
Amazon but it became a headache and, finally, they offered to
refund the amount. They don’t seem at all concerned about tracking

    What a daft world!
