Hello everyone:
I am asking this question in behalf of a friend. He's going to be going on vacation and would like to know he just got jaws 7.0 and would want to know in to how many different computers can he install his jaws and use it successfully?
I believe he's going to several states to visit relatives.
thanks
Juan

Please. I'm sorry you're so distressed, but I asked my question in complete
innocence. I see that the stress and effort of trying to remedy this
problem is considerable, and I'm very sorry to have upset you. As for the
particular question about accidentally pressing the Save command when I
meant to do a Select All, no, that's never happened to me in my many years
of computer use. I make plenty of ordinary typing errors sometimes, but not
this one, and please don't take it personally. I'm more than twenty years
younger than this friend of yours, and my fingers just aren't having any
problems yet, I'm grateful to say. I say this with respect for your
friend's age.

Again, sorry. Take it easy, and good luck fixing up a workaround for this
friend.

Regardless as to whether someone is a careless typist or not, that is not the point, this person has a problem, which other individuals might also be experiencing, that is why I am trying to find a solution to their problem.

Are you telling us that you never or, have never tapped two keys at
the same time when using, for example, a typewriter, perkins brailler
or a computer keyboard? Because, if you have not, then you are
probably the first person since the invention of devices that use
keyboards that has avoided doing so.

Oh! One other thing! This person is eighty four years old and has
used perkins braillers, and has been typing on computer keyboards for
over sixty years.

Apart from this problem, she is an excellent typist and an excellent
student.

And finally, if any of us at eighty four years of age achieve what
this person is achieving to do at that age, then we can say that we
will still be making a contribution to society and to those around us.

Sincerely:

Dave Durber

Couldn't they just practice their typing? This seems an extreme solution

someone typing carelessly. Maybe I'm not understanding why such a radical
solution is necessary. If so, sorry.

I was hoping to avoid a long-winded explanation as to why I need to change the Select All command. But, here goes!

I am teaching someone to use Word and duxbury.

When they save a document that already has been named, with <CTRL+S>,
somehow or other they seem to catch their finger between the <a> and
the <s> keys. As a result, the text in the document in which they
have been working gets deleted and the blank file overwrites the
existing file on the disk.

The result is, the text in the file gets replaced by a file that is
blank.

The person I am teaching is sighted and therefore does not use JAWS.
That is the other reason why I need to make the change in windows
rather that in the JAWS Keyboard manager.

Sincerely:

Dave Durber

Is this to replace or augment the usual Windows command Control A? If so,
why? I missed earlier messages concerning this, and don't understand why
someone would need another version of this dependable Control A command.
Possibly, I'm misunderstanding something?
Thanks.

The subject has been changed here to reflect what the subject is about Using jaws you can assign select all to any key stroke you like. Just use the keyboard manager to add another key stroke to this command and away you go Hope this helps.
