Using thesorus and Jaws 5.10

I showed a friend how to use the thesaurus on her machine.
She uses windows XP/SP-2 just as I do.
She uses jaws 4.51 and I use jaws 5.10.
I type in a word such as "talk" then make sure my cursor is on a letter in the
word and press shift F-7.
When I do this all that happens is that jaws will repeat the word on which my
cursor is positioned while my friend's speech goes into the thesaurus directly.
I am able to use the thesaurus by rooting the jaws cursor to the PC cursor then
arrowing down and the choices will be read to me but my friend is put directly
in the thesaurus, and can simply arrow through the choices with her PC cursor
and select one if she wishes.
Question? Does anyone know what might be wrong with my settings that the
thesaurus is not displayed as in my friend's case.
Much appreciated for any suggestions that might help me here--this must be
something quite simple but I have not stumbled on the solution yet.
