I'm definitely interested in installing Super Anti Spyware, but I'd like

be sure the array of anti spyware stuff I'm using doesn't involve any

1. I have Spyware Blaster installed, as I have for a long time. But it
seems
that when I go to update it weekly, it very seldom has any updates
available, whereas it used to offer them frequently. I don't know
whether
this is okay or whether it may have become useless or been abandoned by
its
providers. Anyone know?
Definitely uninstall Spyware Blaster. Updates should be released
frequently
enough that the latest threats can be found.>
2. I set up Windows Defender some months ago. I forget how I did that,
and
I
forget how it works and what kinds of other anti spyware software it
might
conflict with. I assume it's doing something or other.
Windows Defender, imho, is useless. It claims to protect you from
malware,
but from investigations I've done when I first had my Vista Home Premium
laptop, nothing whatsoever gets picked up, either in real-time or via a
manual scan. If you have Windows XP, go ahead and uninstall it, otherwise
open Windows Defender, click tools, click options, clear the use Windows
Defender check box, click save, click close in the dialogue box, and
Windows Defender will be turned off. Try to ignore the warning that
Windows
Security Centre displays as a baloon.>
3. I recently installed AVG Free Edition Version 8. In the report that
appears after a virus scan, there are now a couple of lines reporting on
what spyware it caught and disabled, if any. So far, it always register
zero
on these lines. Does this mean it's got the capability but isn't
catching
anything? Or does it mean that spyware only works in the paid version,
but
they left these lines in the scan report for the free edition for no
functional reason?
This sounds to me that AVG 8 can't pick up anything as Super Antispyware
already caught them and therefore removed them. This is just placing
unnecessary wear and tear on your computer as you're just scanning for
things that were caught and removed already.>
Finally, of course, if I were to install super anti spyware, would it
conflict with anything listed above instead of complementing their
efforts?
As far as I know, having more than one antispyware package running is
fine;
it's antivirus software that you *should* never have running at the same
time as each other.

1.06, I'd like to again have something that actually showed it was
catching
and disabling some spyware. If Windows Defender is working, it doesn't
seem
to have an interface or a way to see if it's really accomplishing
anything,
and AVG 8 has those spyware lines in its report but seems to have done
nothing at all, and Spyware Blaster seems to have been abandoned by its
makers, though I can't tell if this impression is accurate.

Hi Yardbird, why not give Super Antispyware a try. Fully accessible out
of
the box. Go to www.superantispyware.com and download the free edition,
which
should be enough if all you want to do is manually scan for spyware and
check for updates. The Professional (shareware) edition provides
real-time
protection, automatic updates, scheduled scanning, and more. Hope that
