Re: Jaws OE Keystroke for direct reply to sender

Many people are still using Windows 98, certainly something in the double-digit percentage. You'd be surprised. this is why JAWS must continue to maintain Windows 98 support, a requirement which I suspect slows down FS's progress with JAWS considerably.

Judith,
Hardly anyone's still using Win 98, but the procedure's the same still.
Just FYI.

With windows 98 you go into the address book with control/shift b. Hit control N and follow the prompts. Can someone tell me how to put an address in the address book? I'm using
jaws 7.0 with windows xp home. I know that if you reply to someone's
message
it will go right into your address book, but I mean, just say you want
their
address in your address book, and they don't need to reply? Glenna

I went into the keyboard manager and did everything to assign the
keystroke
control/alt/jaws key/r so that I could respond to a sender privately.
Unfortunately, for whatever reason, it didn't work. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Judith

This message was meant for anyone who was interested.
You guessed it!
If I had wanted to reply to a specific member I would have used my
secret
key combo which in my case is alt-control-r.
OOPS! Just can't keep a secret, can I?

Hi, If this was to me, it's all fine now. I know that Control R is not for

this
purpose on a mailing list. I also know how to get into the Keyboard
manager
and deal with the Reply Directly to Sender script. Thanks. If this
message
was meant for someone else, sorry.

Control plus "R" is not necessarily the keystroke to reply to sender. It could be but here is the issue: When reading mail on a list serve such as this one, control plus "R"
will
not reply directly to sender but will in fact reply to the list in
general.
Reason: In this case, the message was sent via the list serve so the
list
serve becomes the sender to your mailbox.
Replying Directly To Sender:
Replying directly to sender means replying to the original sender of
the
message to the list.
Control plus "R" would reply to everyone on this list but to reply to
Robert
Hebert if using a Jaws version prior to 7.1 you would have had to have
defined a key sequence to reply directly to me, the origional sender.
Wow! I hope that is clear and not more confusing.

I learned this keystroke here on the list a couple of months ago, and
used
it a few times, but I've forgotten it. Can anyone remind me? I'm
guessing
it's Insert-something or other-R, but, well, I forget.

Thanks in advance,
Daniel
