Re: JFW and Microsoft Word.

Hi, George;

have you tried any of these settings?

To optimize Jaws performance in Word 2000, try configuring these items in
Word.

Change the View to Normal
1. Press Alt V to bring up the View menu
2. Press Enter on Normal

Change the Zoom to 75 percent:
1. Press Alt V to activate the View menu
2. Arrow down to Zoom and press Enter
3. Use the up and down arrow keys to look for 75 percent. Then press Enter.

Turn off Screen Tips:
1. Press Alt T to activate the Tools Menu
2. Arrow down to Options and press Enter
3. Make sure you are on the View Tab. To do this, press Shift plus Tab and
if it is on View, you are in the right place. If it isn't on View, use the
left and right arrow keys to locate View.
4. Tab to Screen Tips and uncheck this box by pressing the space bar.
5. Press Enter.

Turn off animated Text:
1. Press alt T to activate the Tools menu
2. Arrow down to Options and press Enter
6. Make sure you are on the View Tab. To do this, press Shift plus Tab and
if it is on View, you are in the right place. If it isn't use the left and
right arrow keys to locate View.
7. Tab to animate text and uncheck this box by pressing the space bar.
8. Press Enter

Turn off Provide Feedback with Animation:
1. Press Alt T to activate the Tools Menu.
2. Arrow down to Options and press Enter.
3. Press Control Tab to move to the General Page Tab.
4. Tab to Provide Feedback with animation and uncheck this box by pressing
the space bar.
5. Press Enter.

Do one of the following 2 steps of getting the Clipboard Toolbar out of the
way:

1. Turn off Clipboard Toolbar or
2. Dock the Clipboard so that it won't be in the way.

Turning off the Clipboard Toolbar:
1. Press Alt plus V to activate the View menu.
2. Arrow down to Toolbars and press Enter.
3. Arrow down to Clipboard and if it says that it is checked, press Enter to
turn it off.

Docking the Clipboard menu:
Before completing the steps below to dock the clipboard toolbar, this
toolbar must be on the screen. To do this, be sure that the toolbar is
turned on and then copy or cut some text from within a Word document. Then
follow the steps below.
1. Route the Jaws to PC by pressing an Insert plus Minus. (the minus key is
the top right key on the number pad.)
2. Arrow up and down until you hear Jaws say something about the clipboard
toolbar. It should say something like, Clipboard 1 of 12, Close button.
3. Move word by word until the cursor is on the word Clipboard.
4. Press the left mouse button twice. (the Left mouse button is the Number
pad slash which is to the right of the Num lock key.)
5. Pres the Plus key to activate the PC cursor. (the plus is located
underneath the minus on the number pad.)
6. Now the Clipboard will no longer float in the middle of the document. To
access this toolbar, press Alt to activate the menu bar then press control
tab one time. To move among the buttons on the toolbar, use the left and
right arrow keys.

This last option is just a matter of preference. Word 2000 is set to only
display commonly used commands on the menu. When a menu is activated, only
a few commands are shown for a few seconds, then after waiting a few
seconds, the rest of the menu options appear. If you want to turn this
feature off so that the menus will always display all of the options,
complete the steps below:
1. Press Alt T to activate the Tools menu.
2. Arrow down to Customize and press Enter.
3. Tab to Show recently Used Menu Items First and uncheck this box by
pressing the spacebar.
4. Press Enter.
