I stand corrected.

Um, you can restore files because their images are still on the drive.
That's the whole point behind file recovery software. Everyone makes a
mistake now and then, it's human. We can all carry some optimism to the
table.

Isn't the idea of file recovery that you recover the files from a
source like an external harddrive etc? If you hve deleted them
completely from your computer, and you had not backed them up, then
there is no way to get them back.

When you learn how to use command line and delete commands, you also
learn about being careful with how you type, because you are enacting
commands which cannot be undone.

I actually need a program that I can install to an external drive.

The reason is that, not only do I need such a program to recover the
deleted
folder on my machine but, it would be nice to have such a utility,
that I
can use on any machine, without first installing to a particular
system.

Because, as Dave pointed out, I do not want to change the drive in
any way,
if I can help doing so.

Again, thanks for any help you can give me.

Sincerely

Dave Durber

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll go and Google for the software
immediately.

Dave, I used to have a program called "free undelete"
freeundelete.exe. Try googling for that. It's been awhile since I
used it, so I am not sure if it has been updated over the years.
