Um, you can restore files because their images are still on the drive. 
That's the whole point behind file recovery software. Everyone makes a 
mistake now and then, it's human. We can all carry some optimism to the 
table.

Isn't the idea of file recovery that you recover the files from a
source like an external harddrive etc?  If you hve deleted them
completely from your computer, and you had not backed them up, then
there is no way to get them back.

When you learn how to use command line and delete commands, you also
learn about being careful with how you type,because you are enacting
commands which cannot be undone.
