Hi Katrina:

When you go into the PDF document and you get the message for an empty
document:
1. Hold down the control key and press P to go to the print menu.
2. If you've got Open Book, arrow up until you come to something called
the Freedom Import Printer and press enter.

You'll hear Open Book start up, then it will do recognition on the PDF
just as if it were scanning and then recognizing a printed document. I
won't vouch for how good a job it will do, but that is one way to read
these PDFs that are scanned as images.

If you need help, call me.
