Hi Katrina,

If it's a scanned image Jaws won't be able to read it. If you have OpenBook
or K1000 you should be able to open the file and run OCR on it and then read
it in either program.

Subject: Empty PDF Document

I am trying to access PDF files sent via E-mail. These documents are sent
via the same individual. Every time I try to open the file Jaws reports an
empty document. At the same time I hear Jaws say something about processing
5 out of 6 pages (as an example that is). The documents certainly aren't
empty...Jaws just isn't reading them.

One of these documents was scanned into a computer so it could be E-mailed
to me. I'm not sure about the other document though. I'm using Adobe
Reader 8.1, JFW 8, and Windows Media Center. I clicked on the Adobe option
to ensure accessible features were appropriate and was informed there was no
text in the document...possibly meaning this was a scanned image.

I've been able to access PDF documents in the past with pretty good
success...typically converting them to a TXT file. What is different this
time and is there anything I can do to help Jaws deal with these documents?

Katrina
