That is correct.

There is also a way to create a shortcut key without even having an icon
anywhere.

Here's how it works.

Suppose you have a program in your windows directory.  the program in theory
is called firecracker.exe

You go to the windows directory on your hard drive.  When you locate the
firecracker.exe file in your windows directory, you click on properties.  I
use Alt+Enter.  Control+Tab to the program page, and from there, you can tab
to the hotkey option and set it directly from there.

This way, there doesn't have to be an icon or shortcut for the program
anywhere at all.  All you have is a hotkey without a shortcut or icon.
