Ann:
In XP, hit the Start key. Then, select programs. You can use the letter "P."
Open the tree's branch (You can use right arrow).
Arrow to accessories, and then work your way down to Notepad. I cannot
remember whether there is another submenu to work your way through.
Then right click or hit the applications key (same as shift plus F-10).
Arrow down to send to desktop (Create Shortcut).
Hit ENTER, and you should have an Icon.
After that, follow the steps that I, and others, have outlined.

Hi,
Do you know how to create a hot key if there is no icon on desktop?
For example, I would like to create alt control+n for Notepad. Notepad is
not on my desktop.
