Hi,

I have Windows 7 Home Premium, JAWS 12, purchased about 3 months ago.

What is the difference between Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail? For 3 months I have been using Windows Live Mail. The retailer set it up to be the active e-mail client when I purchased the machine. It behaves very much like Outlook Express, with some differences that still annoy me occasionally. My PC has Windows Mail on it, but it won’t run.

My JAWS retailer recommends MS Outlook, but the MS Office 2010 Home and Student edition that I have doesn’t include it.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

TIA

Ian

Well, I am a proud owner of windows life mail and I must say, I found it easier to work with than outlook express ever was. Don't take my word for it. Mess around with it a bit. You will get the hang of it very fast. Now, one complain I have is that I can't use first letter navigation. A shame really.

David,
Following your instructions, I found Windows Mail on my Windows 7 Home Premium system. Before going to the trouble of trying to get it to work, however, I would like to know how well it works with JFW 12. I don't see it in the Supported Programs list. I do see Windows Live Mail listed, but don't really know how well it works either. I know that there are third-party scripts for Thunderbird, but haven't heard many comments about them on this list.

While I am deciding which email program to try on Windows 7, I am still using my old faithful Outlook Express on my XP system.

Any comments on the email programs I've mentioned are welcome. I am using JFW 12 Build 522.

Hello John;

first, the registry tweak is for windows mail, which is very similar to OE.

to find windows mail on a windows 7 machine,

do the following.

1, computer/hard drive "c",

P=programs,

now press the letter "w" until you hear windows mail,

there is the folder.

as for where you can find the documentation?

I could send to you if you wish.

David, Where do you find the documentation for installation of this outlook express program and which registry items to change or modify?
thank you.
John

Hello there;

well, just so you no,

with a couple registry tweaks, you can use windows mail, which is a very similar to OE.

in fact,

if you go to,

computer, your c drive,
then programs,
then press the letter "p" a few times, you will hear/see,
windows mail.

as I indicated, with a few registry tweaks, you can get this email client working on the machine.

have a good day.

I don't know about OE, but there is no windows mail on win7. Its name is windows life mail. Now, I know that outlook 2007 and 2010 does work with windows 7. Maybe you should upgrade.

Subject: Outlook 2003: problem with outgoing mails

Dear all,

I am using windows XP SP3 and outlook 2003. I have configured my Gmail account exactly as stated in Gmail help. I receive the incoming mails, but I can not send anything, without any kind of error message! Any suggestions? (I have imported the settings from OE, and then modified it to the ones in gmail help.)

I really prefer to use OE, but I am switching to windows 7 soon. So I am looking for a well accessible counterpart for OE. Can OE be installed on windows 7, instead of windows mail?

Any suggestions/comments is greatly appreciated.

Cheers!
Hamid
