Hi Jimmy,

Thanks for your information.  Until or unless I learn that Windows Mail is 
definitely better than Windows Live Mail, I think I’ll stick with what I’m 
using.

I have a new laptop on order.  It will have MS Office Small Business Edition on 
it, which includes Outlook, and the Outlook will be set up for e-mail.  So I’ll 
have a chance to try it out.

You can make windows mail work with 7, but I’m not sure how to do it.  I 
personally wasn’t impressed at all with windows live mail, but then I tried it 
with Window Eyes and not JAWS.  Personally I prefer out look, but was told I’m 
crazy.  

 

I do believe that you can purchase outlook by itself, if not you could upgrade 
your office package.  There is also Thunderbird, but the setup and new layout 
takes a little learning and can be frustrating at first.  It does work well 
though.

Hi,

 

I have Windows 7 Home Premium, JAWS 12, purchased about 3 months ago.

 

What is the difference between Windows Mail and Windows Live Mail?  For 3 
months I have been using Windows Live Mail. The retailer set it up to be the 
active e-mail client when I purchased the machine.  It behaves very much like 
Outlook Express, with some differences that still annoy me occasionally.  My PC 
has Windows Mail on it, but it won’t run.

 

My JAWS retailer recommends MS Outlook, but the MS Office 2010 Home and Student 
edition that I have doesn’t include it.

 

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

Well, I am a proud owner of windows life mail and I must say, I found it easier 
to work with than outlook express ever was. Don't take my word for it. Mess 
around with it a bit. You will get the hang of it very fast. Now, one complain 
I have is that I can't use first letter navigation. A shame really.

Following your instructions, I found Windows Mail on my Windows 7 Home Premium 
system.  Before going to the trouble of trying to get it to work, however, I 
would like to know how well it works with JFW 12.  I don't see it in the 
Supported Programs list.  I do see Windows Live Mail listed, but don't really 
know how well it works either.  I know that there are third-party scripts for 
Thunderbird, but haven't heard many comments about them on this list.

 

While I am deciding which email program to try on Windows 7, I am still using 
my old faithful Outlook Express on my XP system.

 

Any comments on the email programs I've mentioned are welcome.  I am using JFW 
12 Build 522.

    with a couple registry tweaks, you can use windows mail, which is a very 
similar to OE.

     

    in fact,

     

    if you go to,

     

    computer, your c drive,

    then programs,

    then press the letter "p" a few times, you will hear/see,

    windows mail.

     

    as I indicated, with a few registry tweaks, you can get this email client 
working on the machine.

      I don't know about OE, but there is no windows mail on win7. Its name is 
windows life mail. Now, I know that outlook 2007 and 2010 does work with 
windows 7. Maybe you should upgrade.
