AVG is perfectly accessible out of the box, too, and what this person's complaining about doesn't happen to everyone. I've used AVG Free Edition over several versions, for years, and have never had my composition or reading of emails been interfered with by AVG describing what it's doing to scan that stuff as it goes. It may be that those messages, which I'm supposing appear onscreen but aren't much of a bother to a sighted user, could be silenced by adjusting something that's affecting Jaws's focus. But maybe someone else knows for sure. But you certainly don't have to disable your email scanning capability. Maybe it's what someone else said, that you go into a properties dialogue and uncheck notification. Maybe that turns off these messages, which are meant to be reassuring but obviously aren't very much fun for a Jaws user who has to hear them. :-) ----- Original Message ----- From: "stunnerstud" <stunnerstud@xxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, September 05, 2007 6:57 AM Subject: Re: AVG E-mail scanning this is why i use nod32, no work arounds, it's accessible out of the box and it's just a better program. I have the paid version of AVG and am disappointed and annoyed at the interference this program causes while I read e-mail, work and try to use my computer. When e-mail is being scanned I cannot read my other mail. If I am working I get all the messages that it is updating or scanning and I cannot continue until I press okay or close. So maybe there is also a place to check to have it run in the background instead of interfering with everything else. Anyone know? In AVG, go to control system and hit the space bar. Tab to the list menu and arrow to e-mail scanner. Tab to properties and activate it. Tab to configure and activate it. Tab to turn on notification (or something like that) and uncheck it (I believe it is the second tab).
