No there is no message as e-mail is downloading. I just can't do anythingwith my e-mail program, can't read mail, can't type, can't arrow up or down, nothing until all that mail is downloaded and scanned. It is very frustrating. The messages I referred to can happen also when trying to read e-mail but usually I am working at the time and again can't type, can't read anything on the screen and cannot use my arrow keys, nothing once again until I answer the okay or close message that comes up on the screen. I'd be thrilled to know how to configure it to do everything in the background without turning anything off but so far I'm at a loss. This is the paid version and wonder if that makes a difference but quite frankly I don't care what the program is doing as long as it is doing and letting me go about my other business. I've used AVG Free Edition over several versions, for years, and have never had my composition orreading of emails been interfered with by AVG describing what it's doing toscan that stuff as it goes. It may be that those messages, which I'm supposing appear onscreen but aren't much of a bother to a sighted user, could be silenced by adjusting something that's affecting Jaws's focus. Butmaybe someone else knows for sure. But you certainly don't have to disableyour email scanning capability. Maybe it's what someone else said, that you go into a properties dialogue and uncheck notification. Maybe that turns offthese messages, which are meant to be reassuring but obviously aren't very much fun for a Jaws user who has to hear them. :-) ----- Original Message ----- From: "stunnerstud" <stunnerstud@xxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, September 05, 2007 6:57 AM Subject: Re: AVG E-mail scanningthis is why i use nod32, no work arounds, it's accessible out of the box andit's just a better program. I have thepaid version of AVG and am disappointed and annoyed at the interference thisprogram causes while I read e-mail, work and try to use my computer. Whene-mail is being scanned I cannot read my other mail. If I am working I get all the messages that it is updating or scanning and I cannot continue untilI press okay or close. So maybe there is also a place to check to have it run in the background instead of interfering with everything else. Anyone know? In AVG, go to control system and hit the space bar. Tab to the list menu and arrow to e-mail scanner. Tab to properties and activate it. Tab to configure and activate it. Tab to turn on notification (or something like that) and uncheck it (I believe it is the second tab).
