Hi Amie You don't say much about what you will use this laptop for. If it's general use then I completely agree with Graham, just about any modern laptop will do more than you need. I have always liked Dell machines, Latitude D400, D420 and the XPS laptops. You can get them in all sorts of configurations, including solid state drives if you wish, and they're really strongly constructed and very light. They do a 13 inch screen and there are some great prices on Ebay if you are happy to buy second hand. Hope this helps a bit, I know there are lots and lots of laptops out there :) Talk soon John At 09:49 28/12/2013, you wrote: Hi Amie. I've not seen much in the way of replies to this so here goes. Many modern laptops are quite powerful. Many will I am sure suit your needs. the more urgent issue to consider though is the operating system. Windows 8.1 is the latest version but one criticism of this which I think most agree with is that Windows 8.1 tries to merge the needs of those with touch screens with those who use a more traditional style desktop environment. There is a lot that can be done to make the environment easier but yu may want to consider getting a machine with windows 7 if you want to avoid a bit of a learning curve. Many suppliers can still arrange this but you won't get much joy out of high street vendors such as PC World. You would probably be aiming for a class of laptops known these days as Ultrabooks. I'm not sure which would be best though I have heard it said that toshiba machines are not as robust as they used to be. I'd start myself considering samsung, asus, HP or Sony but I am sure others can advise you better than me on these specifics. I'd be grateful for advice re exactly what to get, and ideally from where. I like Toshebas but am not sure it's sensible to just rush for another without asking you lot first. I like the screen, and therefore the machine, to be as small as possible. I've been running JAWS 10 but will look at upgrading with the new laptop, so what models might suit me, in terms of memory etc? Thanks very much for any and all advice.
