Microsoft will support you just as long as they can determine the issue is not with the VM. As soon as they suspect the VM is at fault all support stops. Been there done that, know how it works. There are also tons of other people on dslreports.com in the Microsoft forum who have done it too and gotten support for their production server running VM and Microsoft's server line software.
