Locking is a mechanism to mandate exclusive access to the sound
device. Possibly your applications are accessing the audio device
directly, that simply can not happen.
Sound servers are present nowadays that overcome this problem by
acting as a mux/demux for all audio applications and the single audio
device.
Please tell the error message you get and from which specific
application if any, if applicable.
