Hai linux geeks,
This is Subash, and am a newbie to Linux (and ILUGC). It's been almost 8 years
of Windows reign, and I've finally decided to break the prison.
I am a new-recruit programmer at American Int'l Group (AIG), and will be buying
a laptop soon. But I'm too much confused:
Which architecture to choose? Intel Centrino, or AMD64 (Turion)? Which one is
best supported by Linux? (I did hear rumors that AMD64 causes problems on most
distros)
Which distro? SUSE, Ubuntu, Mandriva or Fedora? And where to get that in
Chennai?
I shall be using my Tux machine for development in J2EE, OpenLaszlo & Perl,
with Apache running around. Yeah, and also for office, multimedia and the
internet.
Any advice from the linux gurus here would be greatly appreciated, as I am in a
great dilemma. Plz send your suggestions to: sjsubbi@xxxxxxxxx
Thanx, and bye 4 now.
Subash :-)
