[Ilugc] Which is the most powerful e-mail client on earth?

I could never get Gnus to work for me.
Everytime I try to make it work, I get lost in all the configuration
minutiae.
I guess mere mortals like me have to stick with VM, which unfortunately is
not
bundled with the standard GNU Emacs package. :)
Well.. The question was 'most powerful' (though the majority of the
thread seems to be about 'most popular', with attributes like
'lightweight' thrown in :-) ), and not 'most user friendly'.. I agree
with you that gnus configuration is not that intuitive... The only
consolation though is that they have an excellent (and humorous as
well!) manual.. If you have the patience to read through it, I guess
you can cruise through.. :-)
I actually do use GMail primarily, and Gnus currently serves only my
local mail, from cron jobs like apticron. The only prick with Gnus is
that the HTML rendering (as w3 does it) is more like a spruced up text
web browser. GMail has an excellent UI, while Gnus has the power and
flexibility.. Trouble is, you only get to choose one...
