Great. I guess it would be true of any non web based client.

I always use plaintext e-mails. In fact everyone should use only
plaintext, never html...

Isn't it enough to look at the URL?
Anyway this seems to be useful.

Oh I never see them. Very few keys to remember, so I just type away.
When in doubt, isn't it just enough to type the 'h' key for help?

I personally have been able to do an amazing array of things with e-mail
only and only because of mutt.
Of course, there is procmail and the general UNIX philosophy thrown in
but mutt's regex and coloring features help me to stay focused.
mutt's search facility based on date ranges, sizes, header fields and
what not, it's ability to tag messages and attach multiple files or
mails in a seamless way all speak of real genius of Michael Elkins.
Even when one is really unable to focus/concentrate, mutt shows clear
markers to show if the mail is addressed to you alone, belonging to a
list and so on.
It helps you avoid the problems with GUI mail clients. That of too much
on the screen and too many icons/pictures that distract you. Mutt helps
you stay focused. Since it is very easy to go wrong with e-mail sending,
mutt is even more important.
The most useful feature IMHO is the ability to reply to lists with the L
key instead of copying the list and sending to the respondent. Is this
feature supported in any other mail client?
Another great feature is the ability to delete all the mails in a
particular thread with 'D' once you sort based on threads.
IOW, mutt has really changed the way I look at email. Forever...
Another thing. You can easily send attachments from the command line
with it. You can use it with simple shell scripts to do certain amazing
things.
I am sure I left some of the really cool stuff.
I think there is nmh which is also quite powerful. And perhaps nail?
Any of you guys use them?
Another thing is that mutt is limited to text mailing alone. You can
read and send html mails with it.
And you can view pictures from Xwindow by binding it with the
appropriate 'qiv', 'xloadimage' or whatever image viewer program.
