This is encouraging. May I ask what has been your experience with this
board besides the network and sound issues? A dual core Atom cpu was
announced recently available with the DG945GCLF2 motherboard; the L2
cache has been raised to 1MB on each core.
I wanted to use Damn small linux but could not because of the net card
issue. I had to switch to OpenSUSE. I did not need sound and so I have
no problems for this project. I have used 2 of these boards on
production systems (both for data acquisition and control). They are
working great. Really went for this board on the form factor.
Incredibly small and I could put the SMPS, Motherboard and a harddisk
in our own electronics enclosure! The system runs apache and postgres
and the data is eventually (work in progress) going to be accessed
through a browser interface (currently through Postgres database). One
system is up 24X7 and the other during working shifts... Its been
running for about 2 months.
I have one problem though - ifconfig shows an incredibly large amount
of dropped RX packets! But the system is stable and has never crashed.
What could be this problem?
BTW, I have an external CD-DVD/ROM. I removed the USB pen drive and
tried booting from the LiveCD (Linux Mint 5r1) same problem.
I will also trying connecting a CDROM directly on the IDE port and see
if the problem persists with LiveCDs.
I think it is best to test with a Live CD from a internel IDE port
first. Also if you are not going to use SATA, disable SATA completely
in the BIOS setup. I have seen very strange problems when booting from
USB with SATA enabled motherboards....
