Suggest a method for serial no. like YYYYMMDDxx eg. 2008031901 this not 
only gives you an idea when the file was updated but it is also an 
increasing no on the time scale.  If you are doing master/slave this is 
important for zone transfers.

pulsars.lan.   IN      NS      linux05.pulsars.

your domain is linux05.pulsars. or pulsars.lan?

Not necessary to repeat the domain part for each host.  You have already 
done it on the SOA declaration.

This is the first time I have seen this format.  Usually the Network 
No./IP no. is sufficient i.e. no in-addr.arpa. string.


* /etc/resolv.conf - two lines (search pulsars  nameserver 
192.168.0.71)
your domain is pulsars. or pulsars.lan?

Suggest you first fix these and then report back your results.

Search the 'Net for basic BIND config tutorials.  This is a good place

BTW I used webmin to do all this  setup.


Sys Admin 101 - learn the basic configs of any service you want to 
deploy and not really 100% on front end tools.
