I am using Ubuntu Edgy 6.10. I have a Hathway broadband and I have got
a Static IP, Gateway, Subnet mask, DNS servers.
I have configured eth0 with these settings but still am not able to
connect to the internet. I cannot open any site and also not able to
ping.
Can someone please help out with configuring the connection in Linux.

Just open network manager from System => Administrator => Network Manager
Select eth0. Put in the values of IP, gateway, subnet mask. And in the other
tab,
for name servers put in the DNS server names.
If you can give the method by which he did, then maybe someone can point out

what's going
wrong. I have used Hathway on Ubuntu and never had any problems.
Is the cable modem connected via USB port? I don't think net will work if
the
modem is connected via USB port, ask him to connect to the LAN card then.
