People believe that it was this article which eventually led to Avalon and
Indigo being released for WinXP. There was huge responses over the blogs for
this.
Microsoft has a stronger commitment to backwards compatibility (just read
Raymond Chen's blog) than most other companies out there. The Longhorn demo
at the PDC showed Visicalc running on Longhorn
