Actually the general statement that UNIX-like OS's made zero inroads
into user-friendly GUI's is so wrong. Any SGI user would tell you so.
In fact the kind of integration and sophistication that IRIX had way
back then is something you'd be hard pressed to find today. Agreed,
SGI boxen of yesteryear can't be called "PCs" (you could call them
"workstations") but the general blanket statement on UNIX is
completely wrong. It seems to me that Joel equates UNIX to the freely
available UNIX versions.
