Thanks David. The 58 key USB is being ordered, can't wait to get it. Lots
of possibilities!

Hi Gary
Funckey saves having to program an carriage return on xkeys - max chars per
key on my units is 3.
funckey x0 replay d:\psd_data\pcbenv\xkeys\SilkTop_vis.scr //* defined in a
script file that is played on boot
SilkTop_vis.scr :
settoggle silk_top_vis_type YES NO //* toggle so one key does more than one
thing
setwindow pcb
color
setwindow form.cvf_main
FORM cvf_main class_list Stack-Up
FORM cvf_main class_list Geometry
FORM cvf_main board_geometry/silkscreen_top/visible $silk_top_vis_type
FORM cvf_main package_geometry/silkscreen_top/visible $silk_top_vis_type
FORM cvf_main class_list Components
FORM cvf_main ref_des/silkscreen_top/visible $silk_top_vis_type
FORM cvf_main class_list Manufacturing
FORM cvf_main ok
setwindow pcb
another trick is to reprogram the aliases, for example setting grids for
different keys
setwindow pcb
define grid
setwindow form.grid
FORM grid non_etch non_etch_x_grids .05
FORM grid non_etch non_etch_y_grids .05
FORM grid all_etch all_etch_x_grids .05
FORM grid all_etch all_etch_y_grids .05
FORM grid done
setwindow pcb
alias ~0 replay d:\psd_data\pcbenv\xkeys\G100.scr
alias ~1 replay d:\psd_data\pcbenv\xkeys\G125.scr
alias ~2 replay d:\psd_data\pcbenv\xkeys\G250.scr
alias ~3 replay d:\psd_data\pcbenv\xkeys\G1MM.scr
alias ~4 replay d:\psd_data\pcbenv\xkeys\G5MM.scr
Best Regards

Thanks for the response David. I was mainly wondering if it is worth
getting (easy to set up, reliable etc.).
One of the scripts I use is "t.scr" which turns on only top pads, etch
assemblies etc. I have "replay t" aliased to "t", so when I type "t", Enter
it runs the "t" script. So, can the X-Key keyboard be set up to perform
both "t" and the Enter? That would be great to hit one key and have the
script run! Hmmm, maybe I should think about the 58 key instead of the 20
key.
Sure, I'm always open to ideas for scripts. I have lots of them to set up
the initial database depending on a standard format (i.e. pci, lpc, atx,
mini itx etc.) and layer count (4, 6, 8, 10). I also have several to change
views, grids etc. I just had to bang on all of the set up scripts for them
to manual place format symbols since we went to 15.5.

Using the ~56 key one. Got some scripts if you want ideas on setting it up.
Also use another for C programming and spice - fewer syntax errors that way.

Subject: [PCB_FORUM] X-Keys 20 key, any good?
Hey again,
So here's another one. Anybody use the Pi Engineering X-Keys 20 key
programmable supplemental keyboard? Is it easy to program, works well?
Thanks for any input.
