Don't know about Zap which I've never used, but I've just done an experiment with StrongED running its sidebar. Open EasiWriter document, WIBLI sidebar in position. Open StrongED document, its sidebar appears, and the EasiWriter one disappears. Click in EasiWriter window, StrongED's sidebar disappears and EasiWriter's one reappears. It looks as if only the app with the input focus can have a sidebar, and I wonder if the same happens with Zap. I don't have ArtWorks, so I can't say if the same happens with that.
