Hi Marta, where can you buy this keyborad and how much does it cost? The adesso keyboard does have the home, end, pageup, pagedown, and delete keys. It also has the control, function keys, and the alt key, which at least my rubber keyboard does not. What it does not have is the numberpad keys on the right. Now I don't care about that, as I only use it with the Braille Plus, but it would be a drag to use were you to be using a windows laptop with Jaws. Yeah I have the rubber roll-up keyboard myself. I don't mind it except for the lack of Page up, down, home and end keys, and the insert key as well. I will look into that Adesso keyboard. :) It's not that I didn't like the Braille Plus keyboard, it's just I didn't want to have an experience like my Braille 'n Speak, which I call the Cave Man. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Wed, 16 Apr 2008 01:23:21 -0400 From: yerbabruja@xxxxxxxx Subject: [icon-discuss] Re: Question for all BraillePLUS owners; also getting some window-shopping time with the BraillePlus To: icon-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx I don't find the braille keyboard on the Braille Plus to be cramped. It's almost set up like those ergonomic keyboards, the 1 2 3 and 4 5 6 keys a little farther away from each other so that you don't have your arms together in front of you while you're typing, as you often do with a regular Qwerty keyboard. But you might want to consider that if you don't like the braille keyboard, you can always add a qwerty keyboard to the device, which would certainly give you a little more typing room. I just got myself one of those Adesso mini keyboards, the type that is small enough to carry in a laptop bag or a big purse. I use that with the Braille Plus when I get tired of using its own braille keyboard. Also have a foldable rubber keyboard, but find that keyboard isn't as easy to use as the Adesso one. It feels quite spacious compared to the BNS keyboard I remember. The braille keys themselves are spaced wide enough for my finger s to fit between them. The keypad is a little close together, but no more so than an average chordless telephone, and a lot wider than some cell phones. I'm not living in your area, so afraid I can't help with the loan issue. Best, Zack. I've still got a 15 year old Braille 'n Speak and I know what cramped keyboards are like because of it. LOL I have not updated in 15 years, and I really am looking at a new device, but i'm at...well...6 forks in the road. LOL. I'm looking very closely at the Braille Plus as one of the devices I'd like to get. So yeah is the keyboard on the BraillePlus cramped? Also, a good friend of mine told me that where she is if she needs to look at something such as the BraillePlus or Icon, that she can (in the sense of equipment loans for review purposes). I'm from Nevada and I'm not sure what we have here besides Easter Seals (which I heard on the news last week will be closing due to funding issues I think) and the NFB and I'm not sure if they have a tech lab or not. I know the local Blind Center only has the BrailleNote and PACmate (last I looked). What I'd like to do is to actually make a hard look at the device, but I can't make it to the conventions this summer due to my need to take the Praxis for my bachelors in special ed. > > _________________________________________________________________ > Get in touch in an instant.
