Hey Garrett,

Thanks for the suggestion.  A couple questions on it:
1 Since the skill already plays a sound would the sound of the unit being hit play at the same time as the skill sound or after it.
2 I'd need to think of a good way to define being hit.
It seems obvious that an attack skill is being hit, and a fireball would also mean being hit, but a healing spell would not, and a spell that gave or removed effects might not either.
So a couple possibilities are:
1 that I play a hit sound whenever a skill deals damage via inflict flags.
2 We create a new flag for skills called causes_hit_sound or something like that.

Let me know your thoughts.
