I can think of some... :-)
- Copy part of a sound/video clip and paste it into an email
- Copy part of a sound/video clip and paste it into a document
- Copy part of a sound/video clip and "paste" it as a file (in Tracker)
- Copy & paste between different audio/video editing apps
